Three Rivers Land Conservancy is governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. Each of these individuals provide valuable advice and service furthering the mission of the organization.

Board President

Dave Beckett,  Prudential Real Estate:  Dave is a Realtor with Prudential Northwest Properties.  His previous careers include over 30 years in computers and telecommunications.  He was national sales manager and director of marketing for high tech firms. He earned an MBA degree at UCLA.  Prior volunteer service: Board Member, four years:  Lake Oswego School District Foundation, Church leadership: 3 years leading church services, 4 years Board responsibility, Board Member, including chairmanship, of a nursing services organization. Dave and his wife Margie share a mutual passion for environmental conservation with their four adult children.  They are avid outdoors people.  Frequent hikes along the Gorge waterfalls; Mt Hood summer hikes and winter snowshoeing; kayak trips on local rivers; biking around Lake Oswego.

 

Vice President

Cary Strauch, Community Volunteer: Cary is a native Oregonian and long time community volunteer.  She received her BA from Portland State University in Elementary Education, MAT from Lewis and Clark College, and taught in the North Clackamas School District for 5 years.  Prior volunteer experiences include Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation Advisory Chair,  Multnomah County CASA, Lake Oswego School volunteer for 15 years, Kids on the Block, Junior League, and Lake Oswego Junior Womens Club.

Treasurer

Renee Spears, Rose City Mortgage Specialists
Renee is the President of Rose City Mortgage Specialists.  She started the company 9 years ago in her family room and has since won numerous accolades including the 2005 BBB's Small Business of the year and 100 Best Companies in Oregon for 2007 & 2008.  Renee was also voted as one of the Portland Business Journal's Business Women of the Year in 2005.  After growing up in Northern California she moved to Portland 9 years ago.  Renee spends her free time hiking with her dogs and volunteering in the community.

Secretary

Dave Hepler, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, P.C.
Dave grew up in Southern California and migrated to Portland with his wife and two daughters in 2003. He practices real estate law at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, and enjoys roasting coffee and being outdoors.

Craig Arrowsmith, Fidelity Investments

Jay Minor, Coral Construction:
Jay was Co-Owner and Officer of Coral Construction Company, a specialty highway contractor, Wilsonville, Oregon from 1979 through 2005. Jay and his partner sold their interests in 2006 and are now employed as part time consultants through 2010. From 1966-1970 Jay served as the Captain, Company Commander, and Executive Officer in the US Army. Jay is also a board member for The DePaul Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers. He holds a B.S. Civil Engineering from Oregon State University and M.S. Business Administration from Boston University. Jay holds a commercial and instrument pilot license and enjoys outdoor activities, gardening, ranching, camping, hunting, flying, skiing, and swimming. 


Greg Dardis, Marylhurst University:
Greg grew up in the Tualatin Valley and received degrees from University of Portland (B.A. Biology) and Portland State University (M.S. Education). He has been involved in local land-use issues at many levels. Currently, Greg teaches sustainability education and environmental classes at PSU and Marylhurst University and related forestry and agriculture-based environmental education programs.

Scott Rich, Bank of America: Scott Rich is a senior officer with Bank of America Merchant Services. Prior to his career in banking, Scott worked in the publishing/advertising field, higher education, and was a registered lobbyist. He grew up in Northern Utah and received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Utah State University. Scott is past-president of an alumni association with the University of Oregon.  In his free time, he enjoys many outdoor pursuits including golf, tennis, disc golf, fishing, travel, local arts, and Oregon wine.  Scott lives in the Murrayhill neighborhood of Beaverton, OR.

Jim Thayer, Cadmus: As a Senior Associate at the Cadmus Group, Jim heads up the firm’s sustainability and carbon management consulting services. He is also heavily involved in the core business of consulting for utilities on projects focused around sustainability, renewable energy projects and emerging methodologies for stimulating energy conservation.

Bob Wise, Cogan Owens Cogan, LLC: Bob is Senior Associate with Cogan Owens Cogan, LLC and Director of Team Oregon, LLC, private firms focused on urban planning and sustainable development in its multiple dimensions.   He grew up in Lewiston, Idaho and lived in New York, Washington, D.C., and Arizona before moving to Oregon in 1982. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Idaho and a Masters of Public Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.  Bob served on the staff of four U.S. governors.
