Our success depends on community support.  We have a variety of ways you can get involved:

Restoration Volunteer:  Restoration volunteers restore natural areas on Three Rivers’ properties by removing invasive species to allow native species to flourish.  There are currently two work sites: Keller Woodlands, an urban forest in SW Portland, and Beth Ryan Nature Reserve, a neighborhood natural area in Lake Oswego.  Volunteers can either attend our monthly Keller Woodlands Restoration Party or a separate work party can be organized for a group of volunteers.  For more information contact us at 503.699.9825 or volunteer@trlc.org.

Adopt-A-Plot Volunteer:

The Adopt-A-Plot program is great for groups or individuals who want to work independently.  Volunteers monitor a designated area where invasive species removal has been done on a Three Rivers’ property.  Volunteers watch for and remove new occurrences of invasive plants and report their observations, recommendations and hours.  For more information contact us at 503.699.9825 or volunteer@trlc.org.

Natural Resource Inventories: Natural resource surveyors and monitors conserve Three Rivers’ properties by collecting data on plants and animals, writing reports and giving recommendations on stewardship efforts. Surveyors must have experience in ecological surveys and a background in wildlife or botany. Volunteers with less expertise can support the stewardship program as conservation easement monitors.  Monitors gain experience in surveying and monitoring by assisting the Stewardship Director with our yearly monitoring program.  For more information contact us at 503.699.9825 or volunteer@trlc.org.

Outreach Volunteer:  Outreach volunteers teach others about Three Rivers Land Conservancy by hosting Conservation Conversations and staffing event display booths.  As a Conservation Conversation host, volunteers invite people to attend a 1-hour introduction to Three Rivers Land Conservancy designed to increase support for the organization’s land conservation and stewardship efforts.  Tabling volunteers attend events where they generate interest and awareness about Three Rivers by distributing literature and inviting people to attend a Conservation Conversation.  For more information contact us at 503.699.9825 or volunteer@trlc.org.

Office Volunteer:  Being an office volunteer is great for people who need more flexibility or want to work from home.  Volunteers support the everyday workings of the organization by helping with filing, copying, mailings and answering phones.  For more information contact India Arnold at 503.699.9825 or volunteer@trlc.org.

Event Assistance: Volunteers support our annual events including the Wine & Land Benefit, the Annual Celebration and Closer to Land luncheon.  Volunteers help with parking, setting up tables and decorations, serving food and beverages, and cleaning up after the events.  For more information contact Barbara Bernstein at 503.699.9825 or bbernstein@trlc.org.

Committee Member: Committee members become active participants in Three Rivers’ many programs.  The Planned Giving Committee works with staff and other estate planning experts to establish long-term financial support for Three Rivers Land Conservancy. The Stewardship Committee conserves Three Rivers’ properties by reviewing conservation easement reports, providing guidance and direction for stewardship violations, and by directing future efforts of the Stewardship Director.  Closer to Land Committee members increase awareness and financial support for Three Rivers as table captains for the Closer to Land fundraising luncheon. The Wine & Land Committee supports Three Rivers’ annual fundraiser by recruiting sponsors, selling tickets and finding auction items.  For more information contact the Three Rivers office at 503.699.9825 or volunteer@trlc.org.
